RAG Data Engineering Platform
Turn enterprise documents into AI-ready knowledge automatically. Parsing, cleaning, redaction, compression, chunking, and evaluation in one pipeline — fully on-premises.
The Short Version
The quality of your AI's answers depends on the quality of the data you feed it
RAG knowledge base performance = model capability × data quality
Leading large models are roughly equal in capability — data quality is what actually separates results. The UGLYPEAR AI RAG Data Engineering Platform focuses relentlessly on that data layer: the contracts, reports, manuals, and scans scattered across your organization go through our pipeline and come out clean, secure, traceable, and retrievable, ready to power any model you choose.
We're not a chatbot
UGLYPEAR AI doesn't ship chat interfaces. We're the data engineers behind the AI — we fix the stretch of road between your documents and your vector store.
We're not a do-everything platform
We do one layer — data engineering — and do it exceptionally well. The preprocessing layer connects to any RAG backend and mainstream vector stores. No bundling, no lock-in.
We're more than a compression tool
Compression is our home turf, and every pass produces double value: smaller files and cleaner knowledge — storage and inference costs drop together.
The Five-Node Pipeline
Drop files in and everything runs automatically, with progress visible end to end
Parse
PDF/OFD/Word/Excel/PPT/XPS plus OCR for scans, with table structure preserved
Clean
Strips headers, footers, page numbers, and watermarks; deduplicates content; outputs a cleaning report
Mask
Detects and redacts 13 categories of sensitive data: faces, official company seals, ID documents, license plates, and more
Chunk
Smart chunking by document type, with parent-child links and four levels of content enrichment
Evaluate
Three-layer QC (structure, relations, content), knowledge freshness governance, and root-cause analysis for bad answers
Seven Pitfalls, Seven Built-In Fixes
The most common failure modes in production knowledge bases — and how the platform handles each one
Who Needs This
If your organization has documents and wants AI, there's no skipping the data engineering step
Enterprises building in-house knowledge bases
High document volume, messy formats, strict compliance requirements
On-premises deployment — data never leaves your network
RAG and AI application developers
Building preprocessing in-house is slow, costly, and inconsistent
Integrate directly via HTTP API or SDK
Public sector, financial services, and healthcare
Sensitive data that must never leave your environment
Sovereign deployment on mainstream Linux (Debian, Ubuntu) — a fully local pipeline
SaaS and document platform providers
You want to add AI for your customers but lack the data foundation
Compression plus preprocessing in one — cut both cost lines
The Five Questions Every Executive Asks
Straight answers, no sales fluff
We already have a large model. Do we still need this?
Yes. The model is the brain, but it doesn't know your company's documents. The platform solves the what-do-we-feed-it problem — even the smartest model produces garbage from badly prepared data. In our testing, image compression alone cut multimodal token costs by 85.9%.
How is data security assured?
The entire system runs in your own data center or private cloud — documents, models, and processing never leave your network. Sensitive information is redacted automatically before anything enters the knowledge base, and every processing and retrieval action is audit-logged. See the data security framework for details.
Will it be expensive?
You only pay for the segment between documents and the vector store — no need to rip out your existing AI investments. Compression cuts storage costs by 60%–80% and significantly reduces inference token spend, so for most customers the savings on storage and inference alone cover most of the investment. Our document formats are a mess. Can you handle that?
That's exactly our home turf. PDF, OFD, Word, Excel, PPT, and XPS are parsed through one unified pipeline, scans get automatic OCR, and table structures are preserved. In our testing, a 443-page OFD fixed-layout document was processed end-to-end in about 124 seconds, with a parsing QC score of 0.924 (full marks on the structure layer).
How long does go-live take? Will it disrupt our existing systems?
The platform runs as standalone middleware alongside your existing RAG backend and vector store — nothing gets ripped out. It deploys with one Docker command and supports CLI, API, and SDK integration. From environment setup to processing your first documents typically takes days. See integration and deployment for details.
